Great Big Crunch

There will be a Great Big Crunch from students across Sarnia-Lambton Thursday morning.

Zekveld's Garden Market in Wyoming has delivered over 16,000 apples to 51 area schools.

Lambton Public Health Student Nutrition Coordinator Leslie Palimaka says students will chomp into a fresh, local apple to celebrate healthy eating and kick off the Student Nutrition Program.

"The Student Nutrition Program offers fresh fruits and vegetables everyday of the school year," says Palimaka. "The Great Big Crunch is an initiative that started at a food share in Toronto. It is a way to celebrate, with your friends and the rest of your school community, healthy eating during the school day."

Palimaka says the program is offered to more than 8,300 students at 42 Lambton schools.
