More Sarnia Bank Branches To Merge

Two more Sarnia banks have announced plans to merge branches next year.

The CIBC banking centre at Front St. and Lochiel will close May 4, 2018.

In a notice of closure, CIBC says clients will be able to continue to complete day to day banking online, over the phone or by visiting the branch at 1170 London Rd.

The company says all accounts will be automatically transferred to the London Rd. location.

All four employees will be relocated to the London Road Banking Centre, and the downtown site will be put up for sale about four to six months after it closes.

In the meantime, TD Canada Trust has also announced plans to merge two branches into one location.

The Cathcart and Colborne location will close March 9.

All nine staff at that location will be retained and start working at the much larger TD branch at 1210 London Rd. on March 12.
