Locally Lambton Dinner Cancelled

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton has been forced to cancel this year's Locally Lambton Dinner.

Executive Director Dave Brown says the tenth annual event was to be held November 18 at the Lambton College Event Centre.

The event is run with the help of college faculty and the food prepared and served by Culinary Management students.

"It was a difficult decision to make but with the labour disruption with college's throughout Ontario we've had to make the decision to cancel, for this year only, the traditional Locally Lambton Dinner and Auction," says Brown. "We're looking forward to 2018 and coming back strong."

Brown says over the last four years, the event has raised almost $50,000 for the United Way.

"About 125 tickets were already sold so we're encouraging all those people to give us a call for a complete and full refund, and we'll be contacting sponsors this week as well about refunding their sponsorship money," he says.

Brown says they're hoping to announce a replacement event in the near future.

To date, this year's Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign has raised $1.1-million of the $2-million goal.
