Sarnia Library To Close For Repairs

Starting Wednesday, the doors to Sarnia Library will be closed to patrons and staff.

The downtown branch is closing from November 8 - 14 for electrical and parking lot repairs.

City of Sarnia Property Manager Vince Wijsman says equipment and contractors were unavailable to do the work over the summer when the library was closed for several weeks, due to a basement fire.

"Our electrician will be removing a bunch of underground wiring into the library basement," says Wijsman. "A lot of the wiring is encased in concrete. It has cracked and is containing water which is shorting out the electrical."

He says the new wiring will be above grade.

Due dates for resources borrowed from Sarnia library will be extended to accommodate the facility closure.

Patrons are being encouraged to call or visit any other Lambton County Library branch during the closure.
