Pinery Provincial Park Closed Due To Intent To Occupy

Pinery Provincial Park in Grand Bend has been closed until further notice.

Park officials issued a statement Thursday evening saying that a few individuals have informed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry of their intention occupy and block access to the park.

"Ontario Parks will continue talks with the individuals in an effort to resolve the matter," park officials say in the statement. "Public safety remains our first priority and will guide our operation of the park."

It is unknown why an occupy demonstration is taking place. Pinery park officials were not immediately available to comment.

The park has been closed to the public for camping and day use.
