Real Estate Sales Surpass $400M For Third Straight Year

Sarnia-Lambton real estate sales have surpassed the $400-million mark for the third straight year.

Ten-year record highs have been posted in all but one month of 2017 so far, with volume sales just shy of $464-million.

Real Estate Board President Steve Park says 192 properties worth $53-million sold last month, up 35% over October 2016.

"Yes, we've had an excellent month, both with listings and with sales," says Park. "Listings were up 26%. I keep talking about narrowing that gap and we're slowly narrowing that gap between homes that people want to buy and buyers -- so, I'm very encouraged about that."

MLS listings are still down 8% for the year.

There are currently 232 active listings in the MLS system with 178 of those being single family homes, 181 of which were new in October.

The highest number of residential sales was 31 in the $150,000 to $200,000 range.

The average sale price so far this year is $265,000.
