Tentative Deal For Casino Workers

A tentative contract agreement has been reached for 205 workers at the Point Edward Casino.

The deal, between Unifor Local 444 and Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, covers members working as slot attendants, slot technicians, dealers, servers and housekeeping staff.

"This tentative agreement is significant as it's the first one reached since Gateway Casinos took over the casinos from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation," said Deb Tveit, Assistant to the Unifor National President. "The bargaining committee worked hard to make sure that workers don't pay the price for privatization."

The tentative agreement also covers 46 members at the Dresden Casino.

Members will vote on the agreement this weekend.

Details of the collective agreement will be released upon ratification.
