Understanding Cannabis In The Workplace

Lambton Public Health is looking to prepare employers for the legalization of cannabis next summer.

The Workplace Wellness Committee will be holding a workshop at the Dante Club on November 21 to talk about the impact of cannabis use in the workplace and how it could affect their business.

"We want to support employers and give them a head-start on their planning and policy development for cannabis legalization," says spokesperson Martina Jackson. "It may mean that they need to tweak a policy or create a new one so that everyone is supported in the workplace."

The seminar will address how to deal with employees who are intoxicated at work and offer an understanding of substance use disorders. It will also give an overview of potential legal issues facing employers.

The half-day workshop is open to everyone who wishes to attend and costs $49 per person.
