Outdoor Party To Ring In The New Year

Sarnia council is all for another New Year's Eve party in Sarnia's downtown.

City council has approved a noise bylaw exemption, allowing Refined Fool to host the outdoor celebration, as long as two on duty Sarnia police officers are hired for the night.

"I believe this is a great opportunity," said Councillor Cindy Scholten. "We have a local company investing their own time and money and resources to make something really amazing happen in downtown Sarnia."

In a letter to council, Tommy Douglas expressed concerns about tenants in his seniors building experiencing distress with similar events in the past.

While Douglas was scheduled to voice his concerns in person Monday, he didn't attend.

If conditions are met, the celebration will be held adjacent to the Davis St. brewery, between Christina St. and Julia St., from 8pm until 1am.
