United Way To Raise Money With Stair Climbing Challenge

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton is hosting its first ever "Stairclimb for the Holidays".

Executive Director Dave Brown says teams and individuals will walk up and down a maximum of 38 flights of stairs, at the Drewlo Holdings Marina Park Place Apartments on Sandy Lane.

"We're asking for a minimum $50 total sponsorship as a climb entrance fee," says Brown. "People can go up two of the buildings or if they're a beginner just the one, all participants will get a t-shirt and it will be a great fun event for those of all fitness levels."

Brown says they hope to raise about $3,000 from the event on Thursday, December 14.

Pledge forms and waivers are available at www.theunitedway.on.ca, or call the office at 519-336-5452.

For the first time in over 20 years the Sarnia-Lambton United Way is at risk of not reaching its annual fundraising goal.

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 19 agencies providing 35 programs and services to the community.
