Probe Into Sarnia Officer's Actions Dismissed

The Special Investigations Unit has dismissed its probe into an incident involving Sarnia police last month.

On October 25, city police responded to a home in the area of George St. and East St. to arrest a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

While attempting to arrest him a Sarnia officer used his taser more than once.

SIU Director Tony Loparco says medical records indicated the man was not seriously hurt, so the investigation has been terminated.

The Special Investigations Unit is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
