The Sarnia Sting's Jordan Kyrou has made the cut and is on the Canadian squad that opens the World Junior Hockey Championship against Finland on Boxing Day in Buffalo. The OHL's leading scorer and Sam Steel, who was named the WHL player of the year last year with the Regina Pats, are expected to start the tournament on the top line. Coach Dominique Ducharme says the two have played well together, beginning at camp this past summer. Kyrou leads the OHL with 58 points including 19 goals and 39 assists and was a second round-pick of the St. Louis Blues last season. Steel had 50 goals and 131 points with the Pats last season as is an Anaheim Ducks selection. Among the notable cuts: Vancouver goalie prospect Michael DePietro who led the Windsor Spitfires to a Memorial Cup Championship this past spring, sixth overall pick Cody Glass, and vegas draftee Nick Suzuki of the Owen Sound Attack
