Efforts Underway To Revitalize Mitton Village

Sarnia's mayor says it's time to put more energy into the revitalization of Mitton Village.

Mike Bradley says the Mitton St. commercial corridor is really an extension of the downtown core which has been transformed into a cultural and entertainment centre.

"It took a long time to bring that about with the private sector, but it's happened," says Bradley.

"Now, what is the future of Mitton Village, it is niche shopping? What is going to happen with SCITS? What's going to happen at the former Sarnia General Hospital site? They're really anchors of that village, and we need to look at what we can do in the public sector to assist the private sector to invest," he says.

City council is being asked at its meeting Monday to endorse draft terms of reference for a Mitton Village Community Development Advisory Committee.
