Slick Roads Send Vehicles Sliding

A sudden freeze Tuesday night made for slick road surfaces and sent vehicles sliding into ditches.

Lambton OPP Constable Chris Doupe says between 6pm and 1am, nearly a dozen cars and tractor trailers hit the ditch and median along Hwy. 402 between Oil Heritage Rd. and Sexton Rd.

He says once again people were driving too fast for the conditions.

"Speed isn't the only factor," says Doupe. "Any time the roads are wet and the temperature is around zero or below zero, conditions become slippery and roads become iced up. People just need to slow down."

No injuries were reported.

There were eastbound lane closures Wednesday between Arkona and Sexton roads as vehicles are removed from the ditch.
