Sarnia Man Faces Child Pornography Charges

A 35-year-old Sarnia man is facing child pornography charges after a two-month probe by Sarnia police.

On November 6, 2017, the Internet Child Exploitation Investigation Unit began an investigation and determined a local man was allegedly distributing child pornography videos online.

Constable John Sottosanti says officers executed a warrant at a central Sarnia residence on January 18, took a man into custody, and seized several electronic devices.

"A 35-year-old male from Sarnia was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of possession for the purpose of distribution or sale of child pornography," says Sottosanti. "The accused has subsequently been released from custody and is to attend court for his first appearance on February 6, 2018."

Sottosanti says there appear to be no local victims involved. Sarnia police haven't released the suspect's name.

The Sarnia Police ICE Unit is a partner of Ontario’s Provincial Strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet.

This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
