Bright Future Predicted For New Boat Ramp

The managing partner of Bridgeview Marina and operator of Sarnia Bay Marina is singing the praises of the new boat launch.

Dave Brown says there will be six more parking spaces and four more accessible spots.

"It's going to be able to handle four boats," says Brown. "Because of the configuration of the new parking lot, I think the logistical flow of boats going in and out is going to be much, much better than the original ramp. I give credit to the city in that regards and the way they've persevered in this."

Brown doesn't foresee any environmental impact on the nearby Alternate Grounds Dockside Restaurant.

"Technology has improved so much that engines don't give off polluting exhaust fumes anymore. And because of the location of the new ramp, right next to our offices, we'll be able to quickly deal with any noise violators," he says.

Construction problems and cost overruns led to a long delay in completion of the new ramp which should open in time for the Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby in late April.
