Sting Fall To Firebirds 3-2 In OT

It was another case of David beating Goliath last night in Flint as the Firebirds edged the Sting 3-2 in overtime.

The Firebirds are dead-last in the Western Conference and have just 16 wins all season, but 3 of those victories have come against the Sarnia Sting.

Flint's Ty Dellandrea tied the game with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd, then set up Maurizio Colella's OT-winner just 23 seconds into the extra frame.

Jonathan Ang and Anthony Salinitri each scored for the Sting and backup goaltender Aidan Hughes made 31 saves in his second consecutive start.

Despite the loss, Sarnia extended their point streak to 12 straight games (10-0-2)-- the last time they lost in regulation was January 3.

The Sting return home Saturday afternoon to host the London Knights at 3:30 on CHOK.
