Clerk Helps Nab Robbery Suspect

A gas station clerk helped nab a robbery suspect Monday afternoon in Enniskillen Township.

While helping a customer fuel a vehicle at around 4:45pm at a Petrolia Line gas station, the clerk spotted a man enter the store and leave moments later in a suspicious manner.

The clerk discovered the man had fled with a pack of lottery cards in a Ford pick-up truck, which police say had been reported stolen in Sarnia earlier in the day.

OPP say the clerk decided to follow the suspect and contacted police.

The pick-up slid into the ditch in poor weather in the area of LaSalle Line and Waterworks Rd., where the clerk detained the suspect until police arrived.

Police say 23-year-old Brandon Lee Williams of Sarnia is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of break-in tools, theft, possession of a narcotic and four counts of failing to comply with a court order.

He was being held pending a bail hearing.
