Cam Dineen scored the overtime winner in the Sarnia Sting's 5-4 win over the Niagara IceDogs Saturday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Sarnia now has 78 points and are in second place in the OHL West Division, and second in the Western Conference overall.
The win also marked a milestone for Sting goaltender Justin Fazio. He became the first Sarnia goalie to collect at least 30 wins in a regular season.
Jordan Ernst started things off with the only goal of the first period, putting Sarnia up 1-0 at the intermission.
The Sting added two more goals in the second frame. Drake Rymsha and Anthony Salinitri each put the puck in the net and extended the lead to 3-0 Sting.
Niagara fought back with three straight goals in the third period. Johnny Corneil put the IceDogs on the board at 59 seconds into the frame. Danial Singer then scored two straight goals on the power play to tie the game 3-3. Jordan Kyrou's goal with less than three minutes in regulation briefly returned the lead to the Sting, as Singer tied the game again for Niagara with 34 seconds left in regulation for his hat trick, forcing overtime.
Dineen's winner came with 33 seconds left in the overtime period.
Fazio had 37 saves for the win. Stephen Dhillon picked up 32 saves for Niagara.
The Sting host the Sudbury Wolves Sunday afternoon.
