Third Tricar Tower Planned For Sarnia

The Tricar group is moving forward with its third high-rise apartment building in Sarnia, on land at the northwest corner of London Rd. and Christina St.

Mayor Mike Bradley calls it a ratification of the local economy.

"There's no question that over the last 30 to 40 years the strategy of the respective city councils has been to bring people into the downtown core, and there was a focus on arts and entertainment which in turn has led to the establishment of these buildings that are feeding the core, the restaurants, the businesses and adding to the community," says Bradley.

He says the 12-storey tower is expected to provide 126 units for rent.

"This is another significant investment in downtown Sarnia, it would bring 200-300 people living downtown, by a very reputable builder and buildings that are built to last, buildings that are built with style," says Bradley.

He says a number of approvals, including possible soil remediation and minor zoning relief, are still needed for the project.

Tricar is hoping to start construction in May.
