Flu Cases Double In Sarnia-Lambton

There's been a spike in the number of influenza cases locally.

Lambton Public Health says the number has doubled in the last month to 84.

Supervisor Erin Courtney says there's been three flu-related deaths and four long-term care home outbreaks.

She says so far it's been a typical flu season with the majority of the cases being sub-typed as the H3 strain.

Last season there were 90 confirmed cases and seven flu-related deaths locally.

Courtney reminds residents to prevent the spread of viruses by washing their hands with soap frequently, keeping ill family members home from school or work and cleaning regularly touched surfaces often.
