Rapids Parkway Extension Plans To Be Discussed

The public will be updated on The Rapids Parkway road, sewer and watermain extension Tuesday, February 20.

The City of Sarnia's Manager of Development and Transportation David Jackson says they'll be looking for feedback on the proposed design and schedule at an information session.

"We're working on the design this year for extending the watermain and sanitary force main underneath the highway and we thought there would be a lot of interest in what's going to go on in that area in the future, so we wanted to have this meeting to present what the future plans are for the extension of The Rapids Parkway and how that would impact the Howard Watson Trail," says Jackson.

While the timing of the project is still uncertain, Jackson says the road extension is expected around 2023.

"Part of it depends on how the area develops. It also depends on some work that the MTO wants to do on that bridge. So, right now we're thinking it would be in a five-year timeframe."

The information session is being held in the cafeteria at St. Patrick's High School from 6:30pm to 8pm.
