Job Fair For New Casino Restaurant

Gateway Casinos Point Edward is looking to hire team members for its new Match Eatery and Public House restaurant.

The gaming and entertainment operator is hosting a job fair on Tuesday, March 6 from 10am to 6pm at the Point Edward Community Hall at 210 Monk St.

They'll be looking to hire servers, bartenders, hostesses, cooks and dishwashers to prepare for their mid-May grand opening.

General Manager Karen Richards says the job fair is the first step towards rounding out a staff at the new restaurant.

"We're doing part-time hires initially because this is the first time we're doing a Match restaurant here in Ontario," she says. "While they do extremely well out west, there might be a period where we might either get slammed with business when we first open, or it might take a while to build up because it's something new in the community."

Richards says Gateway could be looking to hire additional employees as they continue renovations at the Point Edward location.

The new Starlight Casino will feature an enhanced gaming floor with more tables and slot machines, and new dining and culinary options when the entire project is complete later this year.
