Sea Cadets Accepting New Recruits

If you have a teenager that's interested in the water, this may be the perfect thing to get them off their smartphone and enjoying the outdoors.

Sarnia's Sea Cadets are hosting an open house Tuesday, March 6 for students aged 12 to 19 years old.

Spokesperson Carol Weston says they have a lot to offer youth, and the best part is that all of their activities are free.

"We run a sail program during the summer for two weeks in August at the Sarnia Yacht Club," says Weston. "Also, as often as we can, we send cadets to the west coast during the March Break for deployments on the Tall Ships."

She says they also offer scuba diving, fitness training, music lessons and summer camps.

Tuesday's open house at the Sea Cadet Corps, located in the Federal Building (Post Office) at 105 Christina St. South, goes from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
