Lambton College Takes A Stand Against Smoking

Many students at Lambton College will take part in a one day "Stand Against Smoking" on Wednesday.

The smoke-free day is intended to raise awareness and gather students opinions towards tobacco use on campus and a smoke-free policy.

The college says post-secondary campuses offer a unique opportunity to intervene and support large numbers of young adults to not start – or quit – smoking, and to protect them as well as staff, faculty, administration and visitors from exposure to secondhand smoke.

Postsecondary students are the youngest legal targets of tobacco marketing, and tobacco of all forms remains the most widely used lethal substance on campus, affecting both smokers and non-smokers.
