Minimal damage is reported following a fire at a two-story, older home in the 3200-block of Elgin St. in Alvinston around 9am Monday.
Alvinston Station Chief Ron McCabe says firefighters from Alvinston and Inwood stations called Watford for mutual aid and quickly suppressed the blaze that broke out in an outside chimney, from a wood burning stove.
McCabe says a neighbour helped a woman and two small children get out safely.
Chief McCabe says a quick reaction time stopped the fire from spreading to the inside of the building.
Damage is estimated at $2,000.
