Bluewater Health 'Sunshine' Employees Paid $7M

Bluewater Health paid 59 employees $100,000 or more in 2017 with their salaries totalling nearly $7-million.

President and CEO Mike Lapaine earned just over $300,000 while operational vice presidents Samer Abou-Sweid and Laura Zimmer were each paid $180,000.

Other notables include Chief Nursing Executive Shannon Landry at $175,000, and Chief of Communication and Public Affairs Julia Oosterman at $141,000.

Chief Financial Officer Marlene Kerwin and Biomedical and Support Services Director Alessandro Sullo were each paid $131,000 last year.

In 2016, the hospital paid 51 employees salaries totalling about $6.25-million.

The so-called "Sunshine List" is published each spring as required by the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act.

Lambton College President Judith Morris was paid nearly $253,000 in 2017, public school board director Jim Costello $206,000, and current separate school board director Deb Crawford earned almost $256,000 as Superintendent of Education last year.

Lambton County CAO Ron Van Horne's salary was $205,000 and Andrew Taylor, General Manager of Public Health, was paid $179,000.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
