A 20-year-old city man charged in a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a pedestrian last month is now scheduled to appear in Sarnia court May 15. Boady Santavy was not in court for a scheduled first appearance Tuesday morning as lawyers, still seeking disclosure in the case, asked that it be put over. Santavy is charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with failing to remain at the scene after a 29-year-old man walking west on Lakeshore Rd. was struck by a vehicle near Blackwell Side Rd. March 18 at around 1:30am. The man was taken to Bluewater Health and then transferred to London Health Sciences Centre where he was initially listed in serious condition. He was released from hospital and was recovering at home. Santavy went to police headquarters the day after the collision and was charged in connection with the incident. The weightlifter was released from custody and was able to attend the Commonwealth Games in Australia where he won a silver medal.
