Mandaumin Library's Future In Doubt

The writing's on the wall for the Mandaumin Library.

Plympton-Wyoming CAO Carolyn Tripp says a recent inspection found it would cost $25,000 to repair water damage at the Confederation Line branch.

The building is now closed due to health and safety issues.

"We discovered after looking at the building that there had also been a fire there before," says Tripp. "That caused damage that was never properly fixed. It could be a huge expense going forward. Do we spend the $25,000 only to find net month, next year, we're spending another chunk of money and how far does it go?"

Tripp says usage at the Mandaumin branch has been declining as well.

Plympton-Wyoming Council has asked Lambton County to consider transferring the hours to the Camlachie and Wyoming branches.
