Alleged Impaired Driver Hits City Bus

A Sarnia man is charged after he allegedly passed out behind the wheel and collided with a city bus on Friday night.

Sarnia police say the crash happened just before 8:30pm in the area of Maxwell St. and Hillary St.

Police allege the driver of a vehicle, travelling south on Hillary St., was under the influence of an opiate. It's believed the vehicle slowly rolled onto Maxwell and struck the mid-section of a bus.

Paramedics were able to wake up the driver and he was taken to hospital where blood analysis was conducted.

A 39-year-old man is charged with being impaired by drugs, careless driving, and driving without insurance and with plates not authorized for the vehicle.

Police say nobody on the bus was seriously injured.
