Busy Morning For Sarnia Fire And Rescue

Sarnia firefighters responded to two fires within an hour of each other early Thursday morning.

Crews answered a call to the 400-block of Devine St. for a small porch fire at around 12:30am.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.

Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus says the cause of the blaze is suspicious and city police have been called in to investigate.

"While we were at that call, another call came in for a structure fire on Confederation between Modeland Rd. and Blackwell Side Rd.," says Bus. "That one is still under investigation."

Residents of a bungalow in the 1700-block of Confederation Line got out safely. An estimate of the damage wasn't available yet.

It was the third fire call for the Sarnia service in less than 24 hours.

A deck fire sent smoke into a townhouse in the 300-block of Indian Rd. Wednesday afternoon and an occupant was sent to hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
