2018 Building Permits $10M Off Pace

Sarnia's building permits are lagging well behind the pace set in 2017.

City hall issued 43 permits in May with a dollar value of $4.3-million.

The year-to-date total is almost ten million dollars behind last year at $27.8-million, but 2017 did see some large permits for the ongoing Lambton College expansion.

There were nine single-family housing starts in May for a year-to-date total of 39, down from 49 through the first five months of 2017.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
