Local Voter Turnout Above Provincial Average

Voter turnout in Sarnia-Lambton and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex was well above the provincial average in Thursday's Ontario election.

Sarnia-Lambton saw 61.55 % of eligible voters cast a ballot compared to the province-wide average of 58%.

In Lambton-Kent-Middlesex the turnout was 62.17%.

In 2014, 57.8% of voters turned out in Sarnia-Lambton, and 59% in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, while the provincial number was 52%.

There were 82,566 registered electors in Sarnia-Lambton and 81,026 in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.

PC incumbent Bob Bailey won 52.76% of the vote Thursday while his party colleague in the neighbouring riding, Monte McNaughton, claimed 55.34%.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
