Hwy. 402 Interchange Landscape Improvements

A plan is underway to spruce up the landscaping at Sarnia's Highway 402 interchanges.

Communities in Bloom Committee Chair, Councillor Anne-Marie Gillis says the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is finally following through on a promise to restore the areas.

"They did a lot of work along the sound barriers that were put up to create a good visual effect when people were driving through that corridor, and they expanded it to the interchanges and they were ripped up," says Gillis. "So, as a result of that, there was always a promise that was going to be fixed."

She says they've been working with the MTO's Principal Landscape Architect Paula Berketo and plans for the Indian Rd. exchange, Front St., Christina St. and Edgewood St. have since been approved.

Work will be tendered by the MTO and is hoped to be completed this fall.

The $150,000 project will be funded entirely by the province.
