UPDATE: Relay For Life Major Fundraiser For Cancer Society

The 17th annual Sarnia Relay For Life raised $110,000 for a second straight year.

There were 29 teams, 280 participants and over 100 survivors at Clearwater Arena Park Friday evening for the Canadian Cancer Society's largest local event.

Fundraising specialist Paula McKinlay says they've raised more than $3.5-million locally since the event began.

"Some of the proceeds go to our support services including Sarnia's Wheels of Hope program which gets cancer patients to treatment and home again," says McKinlay. "We also support the great work our volunteers and employees do advocating at Parliament Hill."

The Sarnia Relay For Life fundraiser is one of many held across Canada during the month of June.
