Power Outage Causes Flaring At Imperial's Sarnia Site

A power outage has caused elevated flaring at the Imperial Sarnia Manufacturing plant.

Officials with Imperial say the outage was reported on Monday around 5pm, resulting in several process units shutting down, which caused the flaring at the plant.

There were no injuries.

A CVECO Code 8 and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has been contacted as a result of the incident.

Intermittent flaring  is also expected in the coming days as Imperial works to safely restart its equipment.
