Breach Of Trust Allegation Headed For Trial

A charge of breaching public trust against the former CAO for the Town of Petrolia is headed to trial.

Manny Baron, through his agent, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday, and opted to be tried by judge and jury.

It's expected a trial date will be set in Sarnia's Superior Court of Justice September 28.

Baron, 43, resigned in November of 2017 following a report to council about his ownership, through a numbered company, of two buildings leased to the town.

A police investigation was launched, and Baron was charged by Lambton OPP last March with breach of trust by a public officer.

He's currently chief administrative officer for the Township of Mapleton.
