Bright's Grove Canada Day

Excitement is building for Bright's Grove Canada Day celebrations Saturday.

The event is planned by the Optimist Club each year.

Spokesperson Shannon Galarneau says the parade kicks things off at Wildwood Park.

"Assembly will be at 10am, so we ask all the participants in the parade to be there between 10am and 10:30am," says Galarneau. "The parade will go from Wildwood Park all the way to Kenwick Park and that will begin at 11am."

She says the parade heads east on Hamilton to Waterworks, north on Waterworks to Lakeshore Rd. and then east again on Old Lakeshore Rd. to Kenwick Park.

Children are encouraged to decorate their bicycles and participate in the parade.

There will be activities in Kenwick Park from noon to 3pm and a free evening concert from 7pm to 11pm.

"The Plank Road Hammers and Funk Et Al will be performing," she says.

She says a beer tent will be open for adults again, and they've ordered even more beer after it was such a hit last year and went dry.
