Forest Farmhouse Destroyed By Fire

A Forest family's home was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.

Lambton Shores Fire Chief Lawrence Swift says Arkona, Thedford and Forest fire departments responded to the 8000-block of Fuller Rd. at around 8pm.

He says the two storey farmhouse was fully engulfed when they arrived.

"All the contents within the house were sadly destroyed. It took about 50 firefighters five hours to completely extinguish all the hot spots," he says. "It was a stubborn older home with a lot of nooks and crannies. It would probably be considered a total loss."

No one was home at the time of the blaze and no injuries are reported.

Chief Swift says the damage is estimated between $300,000 and $400,000.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
