Toddler Killed By Pick-Up Truck

Lambton County OPP say a three-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a pick-up truck in Pinery Provincial Park.

OPP officers responded to the incident inside the park on Lakeshore Rd. in Lambton Shores on Saturday at 5:30pm.

According to police, a 39-year-old man from East York was driving a pick-up truck when he tried to make a U-turn in the park. While making the turn, a 3-year-old girl, also from East York, was struck by the truck.

Police say nearby pedestrians tried to give the little girl medical assistance until the ambulance arrived. The child was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

The OPP West Region Technical Reconstructionist Investigators, OPP West Region Identification Bureau, and local OPP members continue to investigate.

The child will be brought to the Coroner's Office in Toronto for a physical examination on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing. Police say the identity of the driver and little girl may be released once the investigation is complete.
