Saving Money With One Integrity Commissioner

Warwick Township Mayor Todd Case says council has decided to join with other Lambton municipalities to hire a single integrity commissioner.

"The report outlined the fact that there are other Lambton municipalities that are looking to partner," says Case. "We saw this as an opportunity to share the cost so we gave staff to go ahead to try to form some sort of agreement and bring it back to council."

Sarnia is paying their commissioner,  Robert Swayze, $3,000 a year plus expenses, even without a serious complaint. Swayze's contract expires March 1 of 2019.

The province has mandated that all municipalities must have a commissioner in place by the middle of 2019.
