Respected Aamjiwnaang Elder Dies

A highly respected Aamjiwnaang elder has died following a lengthy illness.

Errnol Gray was a band councillor for more than 40 years, and had just been re-elected to another two-year term in June.

Former Sarnia Police Chief Phil Nelson calls Errnol a visionary who he went to for advice on several occasions.

"The true mark of a man is one who does things for their people and doesn't brag or boast about it, and I know that man did many things for many people," says Nelson. "It was never brought to anybody's attention, but he did it because it's the individual he was. He had a big heart and was very protective of his people."

Funeral arrangements for Errnol Gray are pending.
