Gleeson Not Running Despite Name On Ballot

Her name will appear on the ballot in October's municipal election, but a longtime Petrolia councillor says she won't be campaigning.

Mary-Pat Gleeson says she made the decision to drop out after the deadline had passed to have her name taken off the ballot.

"Well, it was a very difficult decision. I was reading some material that had been sitting on my desk for a while and I thought there's so much to do in terms of rural health care that I just felt I needed to devote my time to that."

Gleeson, who is the Chair of the Central Lambton Family Health Team, says it's important to continue to work for the best health care possible for residents.

Gleeson has served on Petrolia council for the past three terms.
