Workers From 30 Unions In Labour Day Parade

The theme this year was "Violence And Harassment -Not Part Of The Job."

The annual Labour Day Parade began at 9:30am Monday, Sept. 3 and moved north on Front St. from Wellington St. to Centennial Park.

Labour Council President Jason McMichael said there was representation from 30 unions that are making our local economy tick. "We also pay tribute to the retirees who did all the heavy lifting before us to ensure Sarnia-Lambton was a place where workers could grow and thrive and provide a healthy and safe workplace."

Five marching bands played in this year's event with hundreds lining Front St. to salute the local labour workforce.

McMichael says Sarnia's Labour day procession is the third biggest parade of its kind in Canada, behind only Ottawa and Toronto.
