Crash involving car and train sends one to hospital

Sarnia police are hoping to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a serious crash Tuesday night.

Cst. John Sottosanti said police were called just after 11pm for a collision involving a car and a train.

"Members of the Sarnia Police Service along with CN Police, Lambton paramedics and Sarnia Fire responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a train in the area of Confederation Line and Waterworks Rd.," said Sottosanti. "The lone occupant of the vehicle was a 29-year-old female. She was ultimately transported to a London hospital where she remains with life threatening injuries."

Sottosanti said the scene was cleared by 3:40am Wednesday.

Police said the rail crossing is controlled by crossing arms and lights.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time is asked to contact Det. Allison Knapp at 519-344-8861 ext. 6203.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
