UPDATE: Sarnia police arrest fugitive after chase

Sarnia police and the OPP have located and arrested Kevin Martin Simpson, 32, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Around 12 p.m. Wednesday, officers attended the area of Michigan Avenue and Colborne Road in search of a suspect. They say a concerned citizen contacted police after recognizing a suspect from a Sarnia police social media post.

While police were conducting surveillance, a man came out of the residence and got into a white Chevrolet pickup truck. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled the area.

A short time later, police located the pickup truck abandoned in the Beach Lane and Colborne Road area.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, police issued a statement and said that Simpson has been arrested.

Police said they will be releasing further details regarding Simpson's arrest on Thursday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
