MDOT announces Blue Water Bridge toll hike

The Blue Water Bridge toll for passenger vehicles coming into Canada, paid in Canadian currency, is going up.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) said effective October 1, the toll is increasing by $0.25 to $4.

The fee for trucks and buses per axle will increase to $4.25 per trip.

The Ottawa-based Federal Bridge Corporation has not yet announced its rates for the next six months.

The prices are reviewed semi-annually based on the average daily currency exchange rate, as published by the Bank of Canada, for the previous six month period.

Factors including traffic levels, economic forecasts, and funding needs for long-term capital requirements are also considered.
