Lambton OPP reporting rash of rural thefts

The OPP have made two arrests in one of several thefts under investigation in southern Lambton County.

On Thursday, September 13 at 6:20 a.m., the OPP received a complaint about two suspicious people and a vehicle that had entered a garage on Oil Springs Line in Enniskillen Township.

With the help of the community, police located a red 1999 Dodge Dakota in close to the location of the break and enter, and subsequently made two arrests.

A 46-year-old Warwick Township man, and a 24-year-old man from Brooke-Alvinston are charged with break, enter and theft, and possession of stolen property, in connection with the September 13 incident.

Police say thieves have been targeting abandoned, unoccupied buildings, homes and outbuildings in rural areas recently.

They're looking to steal precious metals, lawn care equipment, electronics, hunting rifles and older off-road vehicles.

The OPP are encouraging Lambton residents to report all suspicious persons and vehicles, and if anyone has knowledge of any of the recent thefts, they're asked to call the OPP at 519-882-1011 or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
