Alleged car thieves arrested in Sarnia

Two suspected car thieves from London have been arrested in Sarnia.

London police issued warrants earlier this week after multiple vehicles were stolen from used car dealerships in the Forest City.

Sarnia police located a stolen vehicle parked at a motel in the 1700 block of London Line at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

A woman and a man were arrested a short time after.

Sherry-Lynn Stringer, 38, of London, and Matthew Lee Smibert, 36, of no fixed address face numerous charges including five counts of theft of a motor vehicle, six counts of possession of stolen property, possession of identity documents, along with other charges from London.

The two were being held for bail hearings and will be transferred to London at a later time to answer to charges there.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
