Starr Rogers went missing on Monday around 8 a.m. and police were concerned for her wellbeing.
She has since been located and police have no further concerns.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
